Bereavement Support Groups
Non-urgent advice: Local Services that can help you
Bereavement is never an easy experience for any person or family. When someone you care about dies, even if it was expected, it is often hard to take in.
You may find that everything seems unreal, you may respond to things in an unusual way - feeling numb, bewildered and lost. There are many decisions and arrangements to make in a short space of time. This can also be difficult.
We hope you find the following local support links helpful.

Social Prescribing
What is Social Prescribing?
Social prescribing can meet many different types of non-clinical need, ranging from support and advice for individuals experiencing debt, unemployment, housing or mobility issues to tackling loneliness by building social connections through joining local community groups, such as walking, singing or gardening groups.
Effects of Social Prescribing
There is a growing body of evidence that social prescribing reduces pressure on the NHS by directing people to more appropriate services and groups – an evidence summary published by the University of Westminster suggests that where an individual has support through social prescribing, their consultations reduce by an average of 28%.
Local Social Prescribers
Here at Oakhill Medical Practice are proud to work closely with local social prescribers. Our clinicians and admin staff are able to refer patients to the social prescribing service as and when requested. If you would like any more information regarding social prescribing and how the service may benefit you, then please don’t hesitate to ask a member of our team.
